For some reason Rent.com keeps contacting me about apartment vacancies in Orlando, Florida. Is this supposed to be some kind of sign? I have no desire whatsoever to live in Florida; it's the old-people state. Though I am a little intrigued about this Disney Town they've built down there. Supposedly it's the "ideal corporate address" according to the site. If you ask me, it's just one more successful step in Disney's plot to take over the world.

Last night a few minutes before 11pm I looked outside to find two fire trucks parked in front of our apartment building (the flashing lights and sirens made them hard to miss). I overheard talk from the neighbors standing outside - well, okay, I opened the window so I could hear what they were saying - and discovered that apparently there had been a fire in one of the units upstairs (I don't know the how big or how much damage was done) but the tenant(s?) managed to put it out. Why the fire trucks still came (and two of them, no less) is a little beyond me; I assume maybe to inspect the situation to make sure the unit was still suitable for human occupation. Regardless, it's still a little unnerving to watch four firemen troop into your building late at night and not be sure of what's going on - they even brought the hose with them, if mine eyes did not deceive me. I kept thinking that I might just maybe smell smoke...I guess now would be an excellent time to re-instate that renters' insurance policy just in case the next time someone in our building decides to set their apartment on fire, I won't be left with nothing should said fire get out of control.

I'm gonna be a pirate for halloween this year. I already bought the costume today at Halloween USA. So don't take my idea (if youre a girl anyway).

Which brings me to my next point. Who's having the Halloween party this year? Ryan asked me but I haven't heard any plans for one yet. I figure it's a pretty safe bet that there will be one in Mt Pleasant, but if not we've got the room here now so it might be something to consider doing here in Saginaw. At least if no one else wants to host one.

Webber middle school (the school Ryan and I tutor at) was in the news a few days ago. Apparently Monday afternoon right before school got out, there was gunfire in front of the school. Right in the lawn that I walk across every Tuesday and Thursday morning when I report for work. Apparently there are bullet holes in the building now too. I don't know the details but it's a little unsettling.

I'm not gonna quit or anything. I just thought it would make for an interesting story.

Oddly enough, based on what I know so far, I think my favorite class might be my Graphic design class. I have a LOT of work to do in it, but it's not terrible and the teacher is pretty cool. He's this older guy named Ernest who's been doing graphic design (both professionally and as a teacher) for years. Unfortunately the class is gonna cost me a lot of money in supplies...=/

I've been working like mad (on and off - even when I'm doing other things it's in the back of my mind) to come up with story ideas for my creative writing class. I've got a few ideas but I'm not sure how well they're going to work once I start developing them. I dislike writing exposition and would rather just jump into the plot, but I don't know how well that'll fly. Once I finish the rest of my homework I'll have to sit down with all the slips of paper I've jotted words on and see if I can make any of it into a story of at least 7 double-spaced pages. One thing that is nice, now that I've started writing down ideas, they're coming to me more often. I've just got to figure out what to do with them.

And to add another appetizer to my already-filled plate, I started at the middle school again this week. I can only go about 2.5 hours a day, two days a week this semester because I didn't leave room in my schedule for it (I honestly thought we weren't going to get called back this year). I was tempted to tell them that I wasn't going to start until next semester, but so far other than having to get up early, it's not too bad. And I guess the extra money is too appealing to pass on just yet.

In other news I may have unofficially quit the modelling business. At least through One Source. I didn't have the money to pay my monthly fee this month (thanks to school books) so I called them to see if they'd wait a week before they took it out of my account. Well, the woman I got ahold of didn't really seem to understand how to work the financial end of it so she just deactivated my account and told me to call back when I have the money and they'll re-activate it. But they haven't really done much for me, especially considering how much money I've already put into this. So I don't know if I'm just going to cut my losses or call them and give them another chance. We'll see.

So those are the happenings in my life. If you've managed to make it this far in the post, congratulations. Your attention span is longer than mine.
