reminder to self

White Stripes' new album comes out June 19th. And I'm actually going to go to the store and buy it.

I am exhausted. But this weekend was a blast. Friday night my friend Jake was supposed to call me around 5 or 6 to hang out with him and one of his friends from Ferris; by 730 I still hadn't heard from him, so I headed down to Hamilton Street, figuring I'd go to the Red Eye and see if anyone I knew was there. If all else failed I was going to wander down to the river and sit for awhile. I parked across from The Mixx, but neither Ryan nor Kraig was there, so I continued on. There was quite a crowd in front of the Red Eye; some blonde guy with a guitar asked my name as he checked me out; I told him but kept walking. Another guy near the doorway - he had long brown hair in a ponytail, dark eyes and glasses - complimented me as being a "tall drink of water" and asked me how I was doing; I smiled and talked to him for a second, but then I spotted Dippy and John O. at a table inside... I wished afterward that I would've stayed and talked to him a little longer, but alas, he left not long after that.

I ended up spending the next few hours with Dippy, John, and their friend Brandon - I had myself some kind of cappuccino, which for once caused me to become significantly more energetic - then we wandered around Old Town. I brought my camera, which was a smart move on my part, and took a few pictures. We walked down to the river, and Dippy and I talked for awhile while John and Brandon committed feats which should have resulted in them falling into said river but didn't, lucky for them. While we were down there, I spotted some giant crayons on the other side of the river, and we made it our mission to get to them.

Turns out they were part of a park which was entirely fenced in; it was nearly dark, but we found a gate that was chained but not locked so in we went. It was a pretty good park. No regular swings, which was a big mark against it, but the curly slide was pretty good and they had a couple bars to do flips over, along with a little maze and etc. (for those who care, it was Wickes Park). Once it got good and dark, we decided it'd probably be wise to head back to our side of the river, then wandered down Hamilton Street until we'd seen all worth seeing, at which point we turned around.

Once back at the Red Eye we found my friend Jasper, then another old friend of mine who's back in town - Dan H. I talked to him for awhile and we almost went to see Pirates 3 together (which had been my original plan for the day) but since it was nearly 11 we decided to wait. Dippy, John, and Brandon decided to leave about then and I left soon after - Jake had called me while we were at the park, so I went to Nine's (a bar) to hang out with him, his friend Eric, and another friend from our poetry class. All I had was water (go me!) but ended up sticking around with them til last call, at which point we decided some Taco Bell would be good. After that stop, we went back to Jake's and watched "This Is Spinal Tap" (the first time I'd ever seen it).

I don't remember what we did after that; probably a whole lot of nothing but nonetheless we stayed up. Eric (Jake's friend from Ferris) crashed at like 6am; Jake decided that since he had to be to work at 10 he'd just stay up, so I stayed up with him. We sat and talked outside for awhile, then decided to climb a dirt hill nearby. On top of said hill, we spotted a house that they're building near his apartment complex (actually, it looks like they're starting a new development out there) so we decided to go explore it. Once our curiosity was satiated, Jake asked me, "Wanna go to the Texan?"Breakfast sounded good to me, so we went and ate at like 9am, then he went to work and I came home and took a two-hour nap.

There's more, but this is long enough and I've been invited down to the Red Eye. So off I go.

My appetite's been really strange lately. For whatever reason, whenever there's stress/drama in my life, my appetite is the first to go, followed by a normal sleeping pattern... I suppose it could also be due in part to all the extra alcohol I've been consuming lately. I used to drink once a month, if that. Yet I'm counting three times in the last week alone (granted, last night it was only a single strawberry daiquiri - my first daiquiri ever). Not necessarily a habit I want to get into, but I guess there's not much else to do in Saginaw...

Yes, that's an excuse, and a rather poor one at that.

Once again though, now that I'm single my social life is blossoming. Maybe people feel sorry for me. Or perhaps they actually do enjoy my company. I think I may need to take it easy for a day or two though. Maybe rent a couple movies, do some writing. I've got a few vague ideas stirring in my brain; it's just a matter of getting motivated now.

Or maybe later. I think I might go buy a piano book from Guitar Center. I need to work on that, too.

Hi. This is me, updating. It's Mother's Day. I just got out of work. I haven't gotten my mom anything yet. I don't know what to get her, but I have until Wednesday to figure it out, because that's when I'm going to visit her.

If anyone cares to spend their afternoon(s)/evening(s) hanging out with me this week (starting tonight, if you want) call me. Though I am free next week and the week after that too.

Also, if anyone knows of some relatively cheap apartments around here that aren't in the ghetto, let me know. Thanks.
