The last week or so has been...full. It's Thursday already; work screwed up my schedule, so while my copy (emailed straight from their computer) says I should be there now, the computer in the store says I don't come in til 1pm. I wish they would just accept that their new 40-some million-dollar software program blows and go back to the old way; I'd much rather be doing my time now and getting it over with.

Whatever. Anyway. Last weekend I went to a St. Charles football game for the first time in a few years; my little sister is a varsity cheerleader and they were doing Senior's night. My dad was playing a show up in Harrison, so I got to take his place walking on the other side of her down the track while they told over the loudspeaker what her activities and post-graduation plans are. I didn't see many people in the stands that I recognized (I guess I'm getting too old) but Dan and part of his family were there - I haven't seen most of them in about... a year and a half. It was especially cool to see his sister Mel and her husband; they were always pretty cool. I hung out with Dan after the game; we went to Meijer intending to buy Battleship, but it was like $15 for the non-electronic version, and I'm cheap. Someday though... Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.

Saturday was Josh and Ren's wedding; I spent the morning putting the finishing touches on their gift (which I forgot to take a picture of for myself in my haste) and dashed out to Chesaning, only to make it there half an hour early. It was an outdoor wedding, and the groomsmen were mingling outside with the guests when I got there. Jeff reappeared for the event as well (but disappeared again after the bar that night). The wedding was pretty and fairly traditional; my only issue was that they stood with the sun behind them, which means pictures were kind of...troublesome. I got a few good ones though. The reception was inside a hall; they had a cash bar downstairs and a dance floor, so I had a good time. Saw lots more people I haven't seen in awhile (which I guess is usually how these things go).

The reception in the hall ended at 9pm, so afterward a ridiculous group of us ended up at the Green Parrot for more drinking and dancing. I doubt I can think of everyone, but here's a partial list (for my own records, I guess): Anna, Nick, Alex, Cherie, Joe, Dippy, Dan, Carol, Mel & Jerry, Paul, Erin, Randy... I'm sure I'm forgetting some. I had a few White Russians in me at that time (none of which I had to purchase myself, which was delightful :P), so the details are a bit hazy. Nacho showed up little later on though, I do remember that.

...Sometimes, I really wonder if I'm a bad person.

52 days to go.

64 days; week 7 is over.

A ridiculous week at that. Monday I worked a split shift, which means I was at work or school (or in transit) from 10am til 11pm. Tuesday I worked 830am til 730pm then spent about three hours of my evening in the emergency room with Jake and his mom (he's gonna be fine, hopefully - not an injury, but... an illness, if you will).

We watched the last half hour or so of the presidential debate while we were in the hospital room; I don't know what happened in the first half, but it seemed like they both spent more of their time trying to outdo or refute the other instead of addressing the question. Actually, most of the time Obama talked he didn't answer the questions at all. I was a little discouraged by all their vagueness; I would've rather heard some concrete plans - real actions that we could hold them accountable for. But that'd be expecting too much, I suppose. I'm still not sure who I'm going to vote for.

Yesterday I spent three hours working on a study guide for an exam I have on Monday; I'm about halfway done. Lucky for me we get to make a cheat sheet (5x7) so I shouldn't fail. Unfortunately the three tests and one essay we'll have to do later are the only points we get in the class. Yikes...

I got an A on my first infant psych test though. Woo hoo!

Life continues on, as usual. Today would make 70 days to go before I get my fancy piece of paper. I actually had to turn the furnace on last night, which was not a happy occasion. Our electric bill is probably going to increase by about $40 a month now...ugh.

It seems like a lot of little annoying things keep happening lately. Not big things, just annoying little things that stack up and make me grumpy. Well, the biggest annoying thing that happened I believe is worth being pissy about; someone got into my car while it was parked at Jake's (down in the outer layers of the ghetto) and tried to steal my stereo. They mostly failed, except that they still took the (detachable) faceplate. And wouldn't you know, that sonofabitch is $60 to replace at the very least (I only paid like $120 total for the stereo - over two years ago). Even more charming, I don't know what model my particular stereo is, because of course my instruction manual has about five different ones listed, and the faceplates for each look the same. I called Kenwood and the guy told me that without the exact model's faceplate the unit might not even turn on. I suspect he might be at least partly full of shit, but it's not really worth the $60 risk. So I'm keeping my eye on ebay and debating whether I wanna just say screw it and upgrade the stereo. I'd had hopes to update the sub or the amp first (neither of which were touched by the thieves) but DAMN, silence blows.

Then Tuesday when I was leaving work, there was a woman in the parking lot whose car battery was dead. So I'm like, yeah, I have jumper cables, let's get this started. So I hook everything up (she was impressed that I knew what I was doing, which made me feel special) but damn if the thing still wouldn't start. Because it sure didn't. We left it sit for a few minutes with my car running a charge to it, and still nothing... so evidently it either wasn't the battery (which it was) or the starter was bad (which my dad said was probably not the case since it still clicked but wouldn't turn over). Apparently if the battery is bad enough, even jumping it from another car won't work. Moral of the story: if your battery dies, get it checked.

I'm in a weird mood, which is probably evident. I worked at 6am this morning, and asked to be out by 11 so I could go to a meeting at school. Then they moved the school meeting up to 9am. So I stayed and worked until 2, which was cool, except now they'll probably cut part of my shift tomorrow, since again magically we're not making sales and will need to cut more hours. Normally I'd like having the weekend off, but it doesn't really seem to matter much anymore; as long as I have a day off from both work and school at least once every couple weeks, I'm good.
