Tonight I'm restless. It's one of the first nights I've been able to actually stay up past 11pm (without really regretting it in the morning) and I've missed it. I am, without a doubt, NOT a morning person. It also makes me miss the summertime, when I could be wandering downtown, or even just outside, without having to wear 6 layers of clothing. We got a few more inches of snow tonight; I haven't bothered to venture past my front door since slipping and sliding home from work around 6pm, so I don't know how many. But I'm ready to fast forward to June.

My mind has been so pre-occupied with work and related issues to really focus on anything else. I like to have my time to reflect and think things through; I feel almost as though I've lost touch with myself in all the clutter of day-to-day life. Even my room is ridiculously cluttered (thanks in part to Christmas) so that even if I had something to work on, art-related or otherwise, I wouldn't have the space.

In other news, Jeff has resurfaced as of late from being MIA, and I've talked to Anna more than usual as well. I lost a lot of social contact during the school semester and I'm hoping to fix that at least in part before the next semester starts. Regardless, it's nice to know they're both still alive.

Well, the semester grades have all officially come in; three A's and two B's. Working full-time didn't damage my GPA as much as I'd first feared.

I really ought to be taking a nap. ON decided that it'd be fun to schedule several of us in at 5am this morning to put up the sale signs so that all the crazy last-minute shoppers could start coming in at 7am.

Tomorrow we open at 5am. Guess who has to be there at 4am?

Who in Retail Land decided that we should reward people for waiting 'til the last minute to finish their Christmas shopping? Yes, let's punish the retail workers during Christmas season by making them deal with grumpy, bitchy customers for even longer periods of time than usual! In fact, let's make them come in at 6am on Christmas Eve! Families? What families? Their souls belong to Old Navy!

Fuck you, last-minute shoppers.

Oh wait. That category includes me.

I think this is the first year in the history of my life that I'm actually looking forward to Christmas being over. Old Navy, thou hast jaded me.

So anyway, Jake graduated from college exactly one week ago today.

Jealous? Yeah, I might be. Approximately 8 classes stand between me and FREEDOM. This time next year, I'll be the one bored out of my mind sitting in an itchy gown and an ill-fitting hat, only I'll have to wait for them to get through 500 students and into the W's. In high school I had it easy; I got to go first because I was valedictorian. This time I'll have to sit through everyone else.

Jake's wasn't too bad; 350 students or so in the program, and I'd say probably 10% didn't show up. Plus his brother David happened to bring a deck of cards. Three games of War later, the ceremony was over (David won two of three, making him the champion)(and we did pause for Jake's 3 seconds on stage). Delightfully, there weren't 16 student speeches; in fact the only real speaker was some author (don't remember his name - he wrote Pillars of the Earth or something like that - look it up) who rambled about the time when Oprah called him to be on her show or something. What does that have to do with the people who were graduating? I don't know, I was too engrossed in battle one.

Why does the blogger bar have a bold button and an italics button, but no underline button?

I'm done now.

Grades are starting to come in. So far one A, two B's. But the two B's are in the classes I was most concerned about, so I guess that's good. Next semester I am definitely taking more time off work to do homework.

In more exciting news, the A is in my creative writing capstone class...pretty awesome if I may say so myself... plus my professor wants to nominate me for the Tyner Prize for "Writing Excellence in the Humanities at SVSU" - she asked me to put together a packet for her of my writing by the end of January. Maybe I do have a chance at a career as a writer!

Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Anyway, 8 days til Christmas and our tree isn't even decorated yet. I haven't wrapped a single present but I'll get to it. So far I've been made aware of approximately 3 Christmas parties (well, parties taking place near Christmas). Anything going on in Mt P?

I also recently bought a new misting fountain. This one's red and has a stand that doesn't suck, so hopefully it won't fall and shatter in the middle of the night like the last one did.

The fact that it's red is an important factor in the probability of it falling, of course. My last one was blue.

Anyway. More later.
