I just wanted to take a minute and inform everyone that I am done. My summer has OFFICIALLY STARTED. WOO!

I have to be brief; I have a paper to edit before work at 2pm.

It's exam week, as I'm sure many of you have noticed... I've got two more to go - one tomorrow night and one Wednesday afternoon - and a large paper to finish. However, I took next Saturday and Sunday off for some partying and I really want some people to party with me... who's interested? I might even be willing to drive to Mt. P. if necessary. :P

I can tell summer's coming, because I'm becoming a little less of a recluse. Friday afternoon I saw Dan, Ryan, Anna, AND Kelly all in the same afternoon, which was fun... I also spent the evening with Jake, which is always enjoyable. Among other things, we went to Barnes and Noble, and coming around one of the rows of shelves I (nearly) ran into Matt's dad, whom I haven't talked to in forever (like Matt, who's apparently engaged now).

Saturday night we met Ryan at some bar out on Gratiot which turned out to be a pretty decent place - drinks were fairly cheap and at least the fries were good (I didn't taste anything else). They had some cover band that did classic rock stuff and coincidentally(?) sounded better after several drinks. Ryan had Nate F. and a few of the people he works with at Meijer come out too - going to the bar in groups always seems to be more fun. All in all I had several whiskey sours, divulged a little on my sex life (as well as various other topics that I'm sure I don't remember now), was kissed by a gay man (as well as a straight one), sang to some cheesy music, hugged a near-total stranger, and eventually hit the pavement outside and couldn't stop laughing about it.

Sunday I recovered and got a new washer and dryer, courtesy of my parents. Perhaps they're spoiling me a little... Thanks to my family, I haven't had to purchase a single piece of the furniture currently in my home (which includes a bed, couch, chair, TV, TV stand, kitchen table, computer desk [which was custom-made for me - woo!], dresser, end tables, etc.). To top it off, Sunday night I got free dinner courtesy of Jake's family.

And now I'm back to business, at least for 3 more days...

Oh, P.S. I picked up my Application for a Degree last week. I can't begin to describe how exciting that is.

In order to celebrate the beautiful weather today I went and got a hair-trim and bought a copy of Juno after work. I'm feeling pretty good about both events.

Our regional manager visited our ON last Tuesday for the first time ever. He actually commended the shipment team for consistently hitting our units-per-hour goal and filled out a little recognition card to me for being their leader. Sure beats the "you've got 30 days to get your act together" speech I got a couple months ago (okay, it was a "growth plan" - they finally decided to take the time to train me for my new position). Our shipment supervisor is off in the Netherlands this week, which meant I had to plan and execute a shop move by myself, and it went well, which also has me feeling pretty good. I don't know what she'll say when she gets back, but my store manager likes the results and I guess that's all that matters.

Thirteen days until my semester is over. You know I'm excited about that. I've already decided that I need to take off from work the weekend following my last exam for some partying... who's with me?

Nineteen days left in my semester. That's just under 3 weeks. My brain is happy about that. Unfortunately in the next 4 days I have to come up with a decent draft of a paper that's worth 25% of my grade in my African American lit. class. I'm feeling a little bit of pressure there. Lucky for me the professor will go over the draft as many times as I bring it to him, but with work and etc., I don't know how many opportunities I'll have.

In other news, I've found out that my position at work - logistics full-time keyholder - no longer technically exists. I get to keep the position as long as I'm not promoted/demoted/fired, or until I quit. Hopefully they don't try to find the first opportunity to take one of those options. I don't even want to be promoted; I'd say I probably have the best position in the store right now. I get paid time off and benefits (if I want them), but they still do my schedule with the associates, which means I don't have to tell them a month in advance when I need a day off. Plus I get to direct a few people (the shipment team) but I very rarely have to direct the whole store. And so on.

So far having an apartment to myself is working out quite nicely. Liz moved out back on the 30th; the day was not without its annoyances. She left her room a mess and left a bunch of trash around. She took the washer her grandfather fixed up for us - which is understandable, except that they just took it to the junkyard - they could've at least offered to sell it to me. Her dad (who turned out to be an asshole himself) decided it'd be cool to leave the dryer in the middle of my kitchen afterward. When I questioned him about it, he told me to have the landlord move it back. I just wanted to say, "Listen, douche, you moved it there, you can put it back. It's not going to hurt you." But I didn't. I pretty much just wanted them out. She also took the cable modem and TV box, instead of letting me transfer it to my name, which means I had to pay Charter $50 to come re-install everything.

But so far it's ultimately all worked out in my favor; Charter drilled a new hole in my room so I don't have to run a long cable all through the house; my parents are giving me their previously-used washer and dryer (which are high-efficiency and much fancier than the ones we had), and the landlord came down and cleaned the stove, and steam-cleaned the living-room carpet and her old room.

And let's not forget that I don't have to deal with her anymore. I mean, we're talking about the type of girl who will delete you off of her Facebook and Myspace so that she can talk about you behind your back - while she still lives with you and uses your stuff on a regular basis.

Lame.

And finally, baby Jonah seems to be doing well; he went home from the hospital Monday or Tuesday. My mom last said something about taking a trip out there in May or June, and I'm planning on going too. I'm excited for that.

My brother's wife had their baby boy - 7 lbs., 11 oz. - yesterday, which was also my sister's 17th birthday.

I can't wait to see him!
