New Year's Eve was spent at my mom's house with her and Ed, because apparently there were no real parties this year (though Dan did invite me to come out to the one he was at - I couldn't really see how to accept that without causing all sorts of trouble though, so I didn't) and I wasn't really in the mood for a quiet one alone. We watched the ball drop, then played Uno Attack (I lost terribly) and drank eggnog with spiced rum in it (though not enough to feel it). My brother, Sonya, and Jonah arrived at about 4am; I woke to the sound of them pulling in the driveway, and we all stayed up and talked to them for awhile. The New Year occurred for them at a gas station in Muncie, IN. But apparently there were fireworks.
I'm finding myself in severe need of a vacation, and soon. I have a couple weeks of PTO saved up at work, and the past couple years I've taken the first week in January off as kind of a reward for making it through another holiday season. This year though I was trying to save my PTO for bigger and better things, but I'm not entirely sure now that I want to. Maybe things will be in order to take a week off in February. I don't know exactly where I want to go, though somewhere warm is most desirable.
Jeff's birthday was Saturday, and he resurfaced long enough to celebrate at TGI Friday's. He had quite a crowd there - me and Jake, Josh and Ren, Anna, Cherie, and of course Cari, in addition to 4 or 5 people he works with. But prior to that I hadn't seen or talked to him since probably the end of October. I get a little info from Cari, who's called me a couple times lately (and came over New Year's Day to clean his disaster of a room :P) but I'm starting to be a little concerned with how much longer this living arrangement is going to last. Haha, I've been trying to convince Anna that she should come live with me when she moves back from Mt. P., but I don't think she's interested. She has to get a job first, either way...
My birthday is coming up in about two weeks, wee! Actually I'm not especially excited; they get less exciting as you get older, I guess. Right now I've tentatively planned a dinner at Olive Garden the night of my b-day, and a potential shopping trip to Somerset Mall in Troy the day after with Anna and Jon Z. I'd like to get a group to go to Olive Garden I think, since Caleb and Elaine have expressed interest in going, so if anyone else wants to come then you're more than welcome. I'm also considering a gathering of sorts the weekend after my birthday (since it's on a Tuesday). We'll have to see what I can put together.
